Terran Orbital Taps Missile Defense Veteran as COO

Terran Orbital has named Jamin Brown as Chief Operating Officer, tasking him with increasing production capacity and driving cost efficiency at the Irvine, California-based satellite manufacturer. [1]

Brown arrives from Lockheed Martin Space, where he most recently served as Vice President of Missile Defense Programs and Huntsville Site General Manager, overseeing a portfolio that spanned THAAD, Targets and Countermeasures Programs, directed energy, hypersonic defense, and space surveillance. [1]

He brings more than two decades at Lockheed Martin, beginning his career as an Electronics Engineer before progressing through positions of increasing responsibility across engineering, program management, and operations. His background includes P&L leadership roles, leadership in systems engineering, avionics development, and major program execution. He also held the role of Deputy Vice President of the Hypersonic Strike Weapon Systems mission segment, where he helped lead rapid prototyping and fielding efforts for the Conventional Prompt Strike and Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon programs. [1]

The hire signals a deliberate shift in posture — from agile startup ethos to the kind of disciplined production cadence that defense primes demand. Operational depth, not just engineering ambition, will determine which small-satellite manufacturers endure the coming consolidation.

Brown will work closely with President and CEO Peter Krauss as Terran Orbital — a wholly owned subsidiary of Lockheed Martin — works to meet growing demand for its small satellites supporting Earth observation, national security, and deep-space exploration missions. [1]

Brown holds a BS in Electronics Engineering, an MS in Industrial & Systems Engineering, an MBA from San Jose State University, and is a graduate of Stanford University's Certified Program Manager program. [1]
